Epson Stylus CX3650 Driver, Windows Setup, Scanner Not Working, Blank Pages, Black Ink, Paper Feed, and USB Problems

The Epson Stylus CX3650 is an older all-in-one inkjet printer used for basic home printing, flatbed scanning, copying, and USB-connected document work. It depends on the correct printer driver, scanner software path, working ink cartridges, clean printhead nozzles, and stable USB detection before both print and scan functions work normally.

Users most commonly faced Windows driver matching problems, USB detection failures, printer installed but not printing, scanner missing, blank pages, black ink not printing, faded color, paper feed errors, stuck print queues, and blinking light states.

Problem: Epson Stylus CX3650 is connected by USB but not detected

What users observed: Users connected the Epson Stylus CX3650 by USB, but Windows did not attach it as a usable printer or scanner. It could appear as an unknown USB device, generic USB printing support entry, or all-in-one device that printed but did not scan.

What was tried: Users changed USB ports, tested another cable, removed the device from Windows, restarted the computer, checked Device Manager, and installed the Epson package again.

How this played out: The fix was USB install-order control. Users disconnected USB, removed the broken Epson entry, installed the CX3650 driver/software path, restarted Windows, then reconnected the printer after the driver path was ready.

Problem: Epson Scan cannot communicate with the CX3650

What users observed: Users opened Epson Scan or another scan program and saw communication failure, no scanner found, or a scan window that would not start. The printer could still be visible in Windows.

What was tried: Users restarted the printer and PC, checked USB cable connection, tested another USB port, reinstalled scanner software, checked Device Manager, and tried Windows Scan as a comparison.

How this played out: The fix was scan communication cleanup. Users reconnected the CX3650 directly by USB, removed broken scanner entries, reinstalled the scan software, and then selected the scanner again. If another scan app could see the device but Epson Scan could not, users treated the issue as scan-software registration rather than printer hardware failure.

Problem: Epson Stylus CX3650 black ink does not print

What users observed: Users reported that black text did not print, even though color output still appeared. The printer could move paper and sound normal, but black output was faint, streaked, or missing completely.

What was tried: Users checked the black cartridge, printed a nozzle check, ran cleaning cycles, changed print quality settings, tested another document, and reinstalled the driver when output did not change.

How this played out: The fix stayed with the black ink channel. Users confirmed whether black appeared in the nozzle check, then cleaned the printhead and retested. If color printed but black stayed missing, the repair moved to the black cartridge, clogged black nozzles, cartridge seating, or dried ink path. Driver reinstalling only helped when Windows was not sending the job at all.

Problem: Epson Stylus CX3650 color is missing or faded

What users observed: Users printed color documents and saw missing colors, faint color, wrong color balance, or banded output. The CX3650 could still accept jobs, but one or more color channels did not reach the page correctly.

What was tried: Users checked color cartridges, printed nozzle checks, ran cleaning, tested another image, and checked whether the same color was missing every time.

How this played out: The repair path was color-channel recovery. Users identified the missing color from the nozzle check, ran cleaning, and tested again. If one color stayed absent, the issue was handled as a cartridge, clogged nozzle, or printhead-flow problem.

Problem: Epson Stylus CX3650 ink dries after long idle periods

What users observed: Users brought the CX3650 back after a long period unused and found that it printed blank, faint, or streaked pages. The printer still moved normally, but output was missing or weak.

What was tried: Users replaced cartridges, ran nozzle checks, ran cleaning cycles, let the printer sit between cleanings, and printed test pages.

How this played out: The repair path was dried-ink recovery. Users installed usable cartridges, ran a nozzle check, cleaned the printhead, and tested again. If output improved gradually, controlled cleaning and retesting continued. If there was no improvement after repeated cycles, the issue moved to severe clogging, dried printhead channels, or printer age.

Problem: Epson Stylus CX3650 does not feed paper

What users observed: Users sent a job and the printer tried to start, but paper did not feed or stopped before printing. This was different from a driver problem because the job had already reached the printer.

What was tried: Users reloaded paper, reduced the paper stack, adjusted paper guides, checked for curled sheets, removed scraps, cleaned accessible feed areas, and restarted the printer.

How this played out: The fix was paper-path cleanup. Users loaded fewer sheets, aligned the guides, removed bent or damp paper, and checked the feed path.

Problem: Epson Stylus CX3650 lights blink and the printer will not print

What users observed: Users reported blinking lights and no printing. Epson light-state troubleshooting commonly separates paper-out, jam, ink, and maintenance-style states before treating the driver as the main failure.

What was tried: Users checked paper, checked ink cartridges, cleared jams, restarted the printer, watched which lights blinked, and tested whether Windows still showed the printer ready.

How this played out: The repair path depended on the light pattern. Users checked ink and paper first. If all lights flashed or the printer behaved like it had reached a maintenance stop, the repair moved to waste ink pad counter and service-state cleanup. If only paper or ink indicators were active, users handled paper feed or cartridge seating before reinstalling the driver.

Problem: Epson Stylus CX3650 copies but does not print from Windows

What users observed: Users could make a copy from the printer panel, but Windows print jobs did not come out. That showed the print engine and ink path could still work when the job came from the device itself.

What was tried: Users copied from the flatbed, checked the Windows queue, restarted the printer, changed USB ports, and reinstalled the driver.

How this played out: The repair stayed with Windows communication. Users used the copy test to separate printer hardware from the PC path. If copying worked but PC printing failed, they repaired USB detection, the print queue, spooler state, and the CX3650 printer entry.

Problem: Epson Stylus CX3650 test page prints but documents do not

What users observed: Users could sometimes print a Windows test page, but documents from apps did not print. The device and driver were partly working, but the normal document path failed.

What was tried: Users tested Word, PDF, browser pages, checked the selected printer inside each app, cleared the print queue, restarted the spooler, and removed duplicate Epson entries.

How this played out: The repair path was application and queue cleanup. Users selected the active CX3650 entry inside the app, removed stale duplicate printers, cleared stuck jobs, and printed one simple document. If only PDFs failed, the issue stayed with the PDF app or file settings.

Problem: Epson Stylus CX3650 appears offline in Windows

What users observed: Windows showed the Epson Stylus CX3650 as offline even though the printer was powered on and connected by USB. Jobs stayed in the queue instead of printing.

What was tried: Users checked USB cable seating, disabled Use Printer Offline, restarted the printer, changed USB ports, restarted Windows, and removed/re-added the printer.

How this played out: The fix was offline-state cleanup. Users cleared Use Printer Offline, restarted the print spooler, reconnected USB directly, and rebuilt the printer entry. If the same offline state returned, the repair moved to USB detection, cable condition, and duplicate printer entries.

Problem: Epson Stylus CX3650 print queue gets stuck

What users observed: Users sent multiple jobs and the queue stopped moving. One failed print blocked later jobs, and canceling did not always clear the queue.

What was tried: Users canceled documents, canceled all jobs, restarted the printer, restarted Windows, restarted Print Spooler, and removed the printer entry.

How this played out: The repair path was stuck-job removal. Users stopped the spooler, cleared stuck queue files, restarted the service, and sent one fresh test page. If the queue stuck again immediately, users removed and re-added the CX3650 printer entry.
