Installing the Dell Precision Drivers

As of 2023, Dell officially released driver packs for their Precision series that are compatible with the following OS versions: Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows 11, Linux Ubuntu 20, and Linux Red Hat kernel. This means that there are no official drivers for any other operating system (such as MacOS), therefore, it’s recommended you avoid installing unlicensed third-party drivers.

To get your hands on the latest Dell Precision drivers, simply scroll to the bottom of the page, complete the Captcha, and press the Download button. Locate the downloaded files and right-click on them to extract/unzip the files. The folder will have Windows, Ubuntu, and Red Hat subfolders.

Windows users will find a variety of executable files, which they can install by double-clicking on them. On the other hand, Linux users will find tar files. To install this type of file, start by opening the Terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T). Type $ tar xf software-name.tar.gz (insert the correct file name) into the console to extract the file. Type $ ./configure, and follow up with a $ make command. The last step is running the $ sudo make install command to install the software.
