HP LaserJet Pro M15w – Troubleshooting Notes (DriverFiles)

Most people reached this page after the M15w stopped behaving normally and the lack of a screen made it feel like a driver problem. What follows records what actually happened when that assumption was tested. In many cases the printer was powered, visible, or partially responsive, but configuration limits, wireless behavior, or hardware faults prevented clean recovery.

Problem: Cannot connect to new Wi-Fi network after router change

What users observed: After installing a new modem or router, the printer could no longer connect to Wi-Fi. There was no display to show errors, and the printer could not be configured through normal on-device menus.

What was tried: Factory resets, WPS attempts, and searching for the printer by IP address through apps and browsers did not complete setup.

How this played out: The connection process failed repeatedly. In some cases, it was unclear whether the printer ever successfully joined the network.

Problem: Printer detected but refuses to connect due to Wi-Fi band mismatch

What users observed: The printer was found by HP software, but the connection stopped when the network was identified as 5 GHz. Print jobs never completed, even when the wireless light indicated activity.

What was tried: WPS pairing was attempted and appeared to partially succeed, but printing still failed.

How this played out: The printer remained unusable on that network until the configuration was changed to a compatible band. The issue did not resolve through driver changes.

Problem: Wi-Fi setup fails due to lack of WPS

What users observed: After switching routers, setup stalled because the new router did not support WPS, and the printer had no screen to guide configuration. The printer could not be added through standard discovery.

What was tried: Direct wireless access to the printer was used to reach its internal web interface.

Where this sometimes ended: Wi-Fi connectivity worked again only after manual configuration through the printer’s internal web page. Automatic setup paths never worked in this scenario.

Problem: Paper will not feed into the printer

What users observed: The printer powered on and accepted jobs, but the paper did not feed. No software error explained the failure.

What was tried: Attention shifted to the internal paper feed mechanism.

Where this sometimes ended: Paper feeding resumed after physical maintenance. The problem was not related to drivers or software state.

Problem: Chronic paper misfeeds and crooked output

What users observed: Pages were fed at angles, jammed unpredictably, or were damaged during printing. Changing toner and print settings had no effect.

What was tried: Internal inspection and cleaning were performed.

Where this ended: The printer became usable again, but still printed slightly misaligned.

Problem: Printer will not power on

What users observed: The printer showed no lights or response despite being connected to power. The unit was relatively new and lightly used.

What was tried: Power cycling and outlet changes were attempted.

How this played out: No confirmed recovery was reported. The printer remained unresponsive, and no driver or software factor was involved.

Problem: Cannot connect to Wi-Fi with no error feedback

What users observed: The printer failed to join Wi-Fi networks, but provided no error messages due to the lack of a display. Restarts did not change behavior.

What was tried: App-based setup and repeated restarts were attempted.

How this played out: The outcome was unclear. The lack of on-device feedback made it difficult to determine whether the failure was configuration-related or persistent.

Problem: Red attention triangle flashes continuously

What users observed: The attention light blinked, preventing printing. No software error accompanied the state.

What was tried: Physical inspection of the toner compartment was performed.

Where this sometimes ended: Normal operation resumed once the cartridge and access door were properly seated. The alert was unrelated to drivers or connectivity.
