Accelerated Processing Units (APUs) by AMD represent a significant advancement in processor technology, seamlessly integrating high-performance CPU and GPU cores onto a single chip. This integration results in a powerful and energy-efficient solution that caters to a diverse range of computing needs.

AMD APUs are designed to deliver impressive graphics capabilities, making them particularly well-suited for applications such as gaming, multimedia content creation, and general productivity tasks.

Installing the AMD APU Driver

Prior to downloading the AMD APU driver, it’s important to note that this accelerator is compatible with AMD R and G series that come with integrated APU. The AMD APU series R features models tailored for high-performance computing, with an emphasis on delivering robust processing power for demanding applications.

These APUs are often utilized in systems geared towards gaming, content creation, and other resource-intensive tasks. On the other hand, the AMD APU series G focuses on integrating powerful graphics capabilities into the processor, making it an excellent choice for users who prioritize visual performance without compromising overall system efficiency.

To download the latest AMD APU driver for these series, scroll to the bottom of this page, complete the Captcha, and press Download. The downloaded folder will contain two subfolders for G and R series, each of which will then have its own subfolders for Windows and Linux. AMD APU is not supported on the MacOS operating system.

Windows users will find an executable file to run, which is installed automatically once you double-click the file.

Follow any on-screen instructions that may pop up. Similarly, Linux users will find a tar archive. To install this type of file, open the Terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T), and access the file by location with the cd command. Once you have access to the file, you’ll need to extract the file with the tar xjf command, followed by ./configure command, which allows you to manipulate the file. Follow up with the sudo make install command to install the software inside the archive.
