HP LaserJet M507 – Troubleshooting Notes (DriverFiles)
People usually arrived here convinced the M507 driver had broken because the printer powered on but behaved unpredictably or stopped responding entirely. In several cases the symptoms looked software-related at first, but the outcomes were mixed. Some problems cleared suddenly, others repeated across multiple units, and a few never reached a clear explanation.
Problem: Printer powers on but display remains blank
What users observed: The printer appeared powered and responsive, but the display panel showed nothing at all. There were no visible error messages.
What was tried: Power was removed briefly and then restored.
Where this sometimes ended: After reconnecting power, the display returned to normal.
Problem: Touchscreen does not respond
What users observed: The touchscreen stopped responding to input even though the printer powered on normally.
What was tried: A full power discharge was performed by removing power for several minutes before restarting.
Where this sometimes ended: After the power reset, touchscreen functionality returned. The fix appeared tied to the power state rather than software changes.
Problem: Delayed jobs and random printing of symbols
What users observed: Print jobs were delayed for long periods, sometimes up to fifteen minutes. At other times, the printers printed without any jobs queued, producing pages of random characters labeled as guest printing.
What was tried: Jobs were canceled repeatedly, and the printers were powered off to stop the output.
How this played out: A driver mismatch was suspected, and the drivers were replaced, only for the delay in printing to continue.
Problem: Printer stuck on “Please wait checking…” after cartridge replacement
What users observed: After installing a replacement cartridge, the printer stopped progressing past a “Please wait checking…” message. No printing occurred at all.
What was tried: Multiple cartridges were attempted over an extended period without changing the behavior.
How this played out: No solution or cause was confirmed.
Problem: Printer outputs pages of unreadable characters
What users observed: The printer began producing pages of random text and symbols. Initially, this happened intermittently, then escalated into continuous output that eventually caused paper jams.
What was tried: Disconnecting the printer from the computer was the only way to stop the printing.
What this turned out to be: The printer was receiving data it could not interpret, consistent with an incorrect driver.
Where this sometimes ended: Correcting the driver stopped the nonsense output. Prior to that, the behavior worsened over time.
