HP Laser 107a – Troubleshooting Notes (DriverFiles)
People landed here assuming the HP Laser 107a driver had broken something, usually after the printer stopped appearing or refused to print. These notes document what actually happened once drivers were reinstalled or firmware was checked, including cases where nothing changed and where the driver was never the real issue.
Problem: Printer reports “HP Laser 107a (USB) is no longer available”
What users observed: The printer appeared connected over USB but showed as unavailable when attempting to print. The system treated it as if it had been removed, even though it was physically present.
What was tried: Driver-related checks were pursued under the assumption that the connection had broken. This did not restore printing or change how the device was detected.
What this turned out to be: The device relies on the host system to generate print output and does not operate independently using standard printer languages. It does not function on ChromeOS.
Where this sometimes ended: Printing never worked on that operating system, indicating OS incompatibility. The driver was not the blocking factor, but it kept being revisited because the failure looked like a connection issue.
Problem: Printer outputs a page with error code 11-1114
What users observed: Every print attempt resulted in a page containing only an error code. This happened on more than one computer, including a new system, with the printer itself being brand new.
What was tried: Multiple driver and firmware downloads were applied from official sources. The behavior did not change after reinstalling or switching machines.
What this turned out to be: The error code corresponded to incompatibility with the operating system in use.
Where this sometimes ended: The printer continued producing the same error output. The issue did not resolve through driver updates.
Problem: Print jobs vanish on macOS without printing
What users observed: Print jobs entered the queue showing “waiting for printer,” then disappeared without any output. The printer status flipped between in use and idle, often after several minutes.
What was tried: Different USB ports, multiple macOS versions, system resets, printer resets, and official support channels were all attempted. None of these attempts produced a printed page.
What this turned out to be: The HP Laser 107a does not support macOS.
Where this sometimes ended: Printing never occurred on those systems.
Problem: Er/01 error shown on the printer
What users observed: The printer displayed an Er/01 error and refused to proceed with printing.
What was tried: Attention focused on whether the error related to software or drivers, as the printer would not advance past the error state.
What this turned out to be: The message indicated that the input tray was detected as empty.
