HP LaserJet P2035 – Troubleshooting Notes (DriverFiles)
This page exists because people repeatedly assumed the HP LaserJet P2035 driver was the reason printing stopped after OS changes or queue failures. In reality, driver reinstalls sometimes did nothing, sometimes coincided with unrelated recoveries, and other times distracted from hardware or spooler behavior. These notes document what actually happened when the driver was blamed.
Problem: Print jobs disappear without printing on Windows 11
What users observed: The printer was detected over USB and appeared online. Print jobs entered the queue briefly, then vanished without any output. Manual printer addition attempts failed, even though the device itself worked reliably in the past.
What was tried: Reinstalling the HP P2035 driver, manually adding the printer, and repeated print attempts. Nothing changed the silent job failures.
How this played out: After a system utility flagged an unrelated issue and the computer was restarted, the printer suddenly printed test pages and normal jobs. No clear link to the driver was confirmed.
Problem: Jobs stuck in queue after printer was removed and re-added
What users observed: After the printer was removed from a Windows 11 system, all subsequent print jobs became stuck in the queue. This affected both local and shared printing, even though the printer had worked previously.
What was tried: Restarting the print spooler, clearing queue data, reinstalling drivers, registry cleanup, and power-cycling the printer.
How this played out: The issue remained unresolved. Driver reinstalls and spooler resets did not restore printing.
Problem: Printer reports ready but will not feed paper
What users observed: Status indicators showed the printer online and ready. At the same time, the out-of-paper light blinked despite a full tray, and jobs eventually timed out without printing.
What was tried: Attention shifted away from the driver toward internal printer behavior and test functions.
What this turned out to be: A likely formatter or internal hardware fault rather than a software issue.
Where this sometimes ended: Hardware inspection or replacement was indicated. Driver changes had no effect.
Problem: Paper jam indicator stuck after internal cleaning
What users observed: After a toner spill and extensive internal cleaning, the printer powered on with a constant paper-jam indicator. The printer would not proceed past startup.
What was tried: Button-based resets and repeated power cycles did not clear the error.
What this turned out to be: A physical sensor or microswitch left misaligned during reassembly.
Where this sometimes ended: Realigning the internal switch resolved the error. Software and drivers were not involved.
Problem: Printer pauses and requires pressing the Go button for every job
What users observed: Each print job triggered a prompt to load Tray 1 or press the Go button, even though paper was available in the main tray. This behavior began after printing labels.
What was tried: Changing paper source settings in print preferences did not stop the prompts.
What this turned out to be: Driver behavior that kept the printer in a manual feed state.
Where this sometimes ended: Switching to a different, older LaserJet driver removed the need to press the Go button and restored automatic printing.
